WHY OUR SLATE SPHERES ARE BETTER?
We use generously sized reservoirs which means that there is less opportunity for water to splash beyond the catchment area of the basin and run the pump dry.
Does not require a mains water supply.
Natural slate pieces with a high end finish.
We only use quality branded pumps with a minimum of a two year warranty. All pumps also have inbuilt flow control which allows you to easily control your ideal flow.
Our galvanised grids use 3mm guage steel (our competitors use 2mm). This makes for a grid that is 50% heavier, stronger and will last a lifetime.
We have sold hundreds of these in the last ten years and they are a water feature that will stand the test of time and still look beautiful.
GENERAL
Handcrafted Excellence: Each sphere is meticulously created by our artisans, who carefully embed natural slate pieces into a robust concrete core. As water cascades over the textured surface, it creates a mesmerizing display of light-catching droplets, bringing your garden to life with gentle movement and subtle sparkle.
These timeless spheres bridge the gap between classic and contemporary design, making them a versatile centrepiece for any garden style. Their natural materials and organic form allow them to integrate seamlessly into your landscape, whether nestled among ornamental grasses, complementing structured boxwood, or standing alone as a striking focal point.
For dramatic impact, consider creating a sculptural grouping of spheres in varying sizes. This arrangement can transform a simple garden space into an artistic water feature that delights throughout the seasons.
- Unique aesthetic: The natural tones of slate blend seamlessly into various garden styles, from modern and contemporary to more traditional or rustic settings.
- Versatile installation: These features can be installed in a variety of locations, including nestled among plants, as a standalone centrepiece, in a pond, or in groupings of varying sizes.
FAQ ON SLATE SPHERE WATER FEATURES
Operation & Maintenance
Q: Should I keep the pump running continuously? A: No - as this is a decorative feature, you can turn it on and off as desired.
Q: Is regular water replacement necessary? A: No - the water is continuously recycled within the feature
Installation Requirements
Q: Do I need professional installation? A:
- Electrician: No, but you'll need an outdoor power socket within 10m of the feature (pump includes 10m cable)
- Plumber: No, the feature recycles its own water. Simply top up with a hose occasionally to replace any evaporated water
Q: How should the reservoir be positioned? A: The reservoir rim should sit 10-20mm above ground level to prevent soil washing in during heavy rain. Once covered with pebbles or cobbles, this slight elevation won't be visible.
Q: Does the reservoir need a concrete foundation? A:
- For most installations: No - a level bed of sharp sand (100mm deep) is sufficient
- Exception: 900mm spheres on very wet or unstable ground may require concrete foundations
Q. Do freezing temperatures damage the slate sphere?
We have been selling slate sphere water features for the last ten years and freezing temperatures during normal UK winters do not pose any problems. If we have more extreme or prolonged freezing temperatures it is best to let the pump run day and night as this will keep the water circulating.
Delivery
Q: How are the water features delivered? A: All pieces are safely secured on a wooden pallet for protected transport.
